CHICAGO — A 15-year-old boy was shot and wounded on the city's Far South Side.The shooting happened around 6:45 p.m. Monday on the 10100 block of South LaSalle Street, when the teen heard shots and felt pain.According to police, the boy was shot in the left elbow and left buttock and transported to Comer Children's Hospital in stable condition. LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Lake George man was arrested on Thursday after law enforcement says he was seen driving a stolen U-Haul. Peter Morales, 47, faces multiple charges. According to the Warren County Sheriff's Office, on Thursday, September 7, Morales was seen by a patrol officer driving a U-Haul that was reported stolen. When law enforcement tried approaching him, he fled southbound on State Route 9N toward Lake Luzerne.The U-Haul was found unoccupied on Dunkley Road in Lake Luzerne. He was later found in a residence on Dunkley Road and was taken into custody without incident. On Monday, rising gas prices neared an average of $6 per gallon in the Los Angeles area.It only took one more day for that benchmark to be eclipsed.On Tuesday, the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was nearly $6.03 in the L.A. area, according to AAA.That's about 11 cents higher than Monday's $5.92.Gas prices also rose statewide, though not by as much as they did in the Southland.The state average price is $5.76, up about 7 cents from $5.69 on Monday.Nationally, however, gas prices actually dipped about a tenth of a cent, remaining right around $3.88 per gallon.Even with the higher prices in L.A. Applications for Los Angeles' Emergency Renters Assistance Program will be available to residents beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday.The program was designed to help eligible residents who owe back rent since the time of the COVID-19 pandemic in order to stop people from being evicted. The idea is that more evictions would only add to the city's homeless population.
