AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Brooks Koepka held steady in the cold air and was potentially spared a big number by the rain-softened grass at Augusta National, finishing the third round at the Masters on Sunday morning with a 1-over 73 to keep a two-shot lead over Jon Rahm. But it’s no longer a two-man race. The final round will not have Tiger Woods in his Sunday red shirt, either.Woods never made it back to the course after enduring a miserable mix of cold and rain on Saturday. He withdrew with what he said was a recurrence of plantar fasciitis, the second time in his last three majors that he made the cut without making it to the finishing line.Koepka has been atop the leaderboard after all three rounds, yet his work is far from over. Rahm had his chances to catch him until three-putt bogeys on both par 5s on the back nine, settling for a 73 that puts him in the final group.Viktor Hovland was only three shots behind after a wild 70 that illustrated how quickly it can change at Augusta ...El covid-19 puede haberse originado en humanos, afirma un científico chino

BALTIMORE — With the Yankees’ bullpen sustaining a few injuries, the team could eventually turn to a former starter for assistance.Deivi Garcia, once a consensus top-100 starting pitching prospect, has been throwing out of the bullpen at Triple-A. The 23-year-old has made three multi-inning appearances this season, all two or three frames, while allowing two earned runs with six strikeouts and three walks over 7.2 innings. The Yankees’ hope is that the right-hander can find more consistency in relief. If Garcia were to return to the majors, he would likely do so via the pen.“He’s a young man, so he’s still developing. What we’ve seen of Deivi a little bit over the last few years is that influx of stuff,” Aaron Boone said Sunday. “The stuff we saw in spring training is really good. Maybe that’s something that we can get in smaller bursts.”Garcia pitched well in relief during the spring, when he recorded a 1.93 ERA and 1...Mets’ Francisco Alvarez begins second big-league stint with plenty to prove behind the plate

Francisco Alvarez’s second stint in the MLB has come a bit earlier than expected. The Mets sent the 21-year-old down to Triple-A Syracuse on March 22 with the goal of improving his defense.Fast forward two and a half weeks and the top prospect’s name was on the lineup card batting eighth Sunday catching veteran Carlos Carrasco as the Amazins looked to complete a three-game sweep of the Marlins at Citi Field. However, the backstop wasn’t called upon due to improved abilities behind the dish but because Omar Narvaez was placed on the injured list Thursday with a calf strain and is expected to miss eight to nine weeks.Alvarez joined fellow top prospects Brett Baty and Mark Vientos in Syracuse, who were also sent to Triple-A to improve on the field. However, the catcher is understanding why he didn’t make the big league club out of spring training.“The priority, and I think he understands it, is catching,” Buck Showalter said before Sunday’s game...One dead, one critically injured in fatal two-alarm Hopkinton fire
