South Florida’s automotive industry celebrated the philanthropic efforts of two distinguished figures as the Community Foundation of Broward honored Rita Case, President, and CEO of Rick Case Automotive Group, and Colin Brown, JM Family Enterprises Board Chair.Plaques were unveiled in a ceremony at the Community Foundation of Broward, recognizing their dedicated charitable endeavors. Boston police say a suspect is in custody after an exterior crucifix was vandalized at the historic Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston overnight.The arms of Jesus on the crucifix were broken and left dangling and video posted online shows someone swinging back and forth from the crucifix, trying to pull it down.A spokesman for the Archdiocese of Boston said, “Unfortunately, the Cathedral experienced vandalism at the exterior crucifix … It’s now in the capable hands of the BPD. The Archdiocese will work with the Cathedral to assess the damage.”Following an investigation Wednesday morning, the Boston Police Department said an individual had been taken into custody in connection with the case. Police in Marshfield say a resident was taken into custody after a report of shots being fired led to officers finding evidence of property damage and intoxication.The Marshfield Police Department said David Planchard, 66, was arrested after officers responded to the area of Foster Avenue on Monday night.Officers arrived at his home after a caller living nearby described hearing gunshots and seeing “flashing lights” at Planchard’s Foster Avenue address.“They also stated they saw ‘an older gentlemen pacing back and forth on the porch’ of 4 Foster Ave. at the time,” the police department stated in a news release.According to police, officers arrived and came into contact with Planchard, who allowed them into his home. (CNN) — The Nashville police chief’s son, who was wanted in the shooting of two officers, was found dead Tuesday night after leading police on a car chase, authorities said.John Drake Jr., 38, was being sought on two counts of attempted first-degree murder after a shooting that injured the police officers during a struggle Saturday night in La Vergne, a suburb of Nashville.Drake Jr. resurfaced Tuesday, when he stole a car from a couple at gunpoint after they wouldn’t give him a ride, Metropolitan Nashville Police Department spokesperson Don Aaron said.When officers spotted him in the stolen car, Drake Jr. led them on a pursuit, Aaron said.
